The Slow Craft Series: Bead Embroidery on Uzbek Ikat

In a fast-paced world, there is a quiet, restorative joy in making something with your own hands. This May, at TB Project, we believe in the beauty of intentionality: taking the time to slow down, connect, and create

As part of our commitment to celebrating artisanal craft, we are proud to collaborate with embroidery artist Emily from Coloratura to host a series of small workshops dedicated to the intersection of traditional textiles and modern beadwork

The Project: Your Customised Uzbek Ikat Travel Organizer

The canvas for our sessions is travel organizer made by TB Project crafted from handwoven cotton ikat. The fabrics was sourced from Chorsu Bozor in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

By bringing these pieces to Dubai, we wanted to bridge the distance between ancient craftsmanship and our daily lives

During the workshop, you’ll add your own story to the fabric through bead embroidery, turning a handmade object into something that carries your own mark

The Experience: A Creative Gathering in Jumeirah

We intentionally keep our sessions small—just 10 people—to ensure a cozy, personal atmosphere where conversation and craft can flow naturally

We’re gathering at Kulture House in Jumeirah 1. It’s a homegrown space in a restored 80s villa, filled with eclectic decor and a lot of soul. We chose it for its quiet energy and the soft, natural light: the right setting to sit back, find your rhythm, and focus on the slow work of embroidery

What to Expect at the Table

Whether you’ve stitched for years or have never held a needle, you are welcome. We’ll be there to guide you through the beadwork at your own pace; it is often much simpler and more intuitive than it first appears

Everything you need will be waiting for you at the table: your ikat organizer, a palette of beads, and the tools to work with
