Our Sourcing Story: Exploring Natural Fabrics and Handloom Craft in India

Discovering Natural Fabrics in India

Years before TB Project was started, the seed of the idea was planted during a trip to Rajasthan. Witnessing block printing and other handicrafts in action, and the fascination of seeing something come to life right in front of your eyes

From Finance to a Search for Tangible Materials

Coming from a background in finance, and having spent the past decade in major financial centres such as Singapore, Dubai, and Hong Kong, it’s rare to feel connected to how things are made. This created a strong yearning for something tangible and real.

Why We Focus on 100% Natural Materials

Something simple and understandable: 100% natural materials grown in soil. Our sourcing process is designed to help you connect to the materials themselves, and to the people behind the making. Natural fabrics like cotton and linen are especially suited to hot climates, as they allow the skin to breathe and remain comfortable in heat and humidity

Working with Cotton and Handloom Fabrics

After exploring many potential sources and accumulating countless samples, we eventually returned to our original inspiration: India.

TB Project works with small suppliers across the country. The cotton used in our pyjamas comes from South India. We are also experimenting with handloom fabrics, such Kala Cotton or cotton ikat, a labour-intensive yet deeply fascinating fabric. These breathable cotton fabrics are chosen for their comfort in warm weather and their connection to traditional craftsmanship.
